Nathan Brasz Takes Second Place at the Nopi Spring Nationals in EnglishTown NJ

EnglishTown NJ, 5-3, 5-4

Old Bridge Raceway park saw over 21,000 people in attendance for the two day Nopi Spring Nationals. Nathan Brasz and his Brasz Racing/CooperTires, Nissan S-13 were very consistent all weekend. The judges gave him the nickname “Mister Consistent”, but on his first of two qualifying runs they saw his first spin of the weekend resulting in a zero point run. Now the pressure was really on for the second and final qualifying run. Nathan held it together and laid down a solid but slightly conservative second run that earned him the fourth place qualifying position for the top 16 main event.

Nathan out drifted Shawn Milone in the first round of the top 16. Next he found himself paired up against the very talented Kenji Yamanaka for his top eight round. At the previous Nopi event, Nathan was knocked out of the top eight by Kenji. Determined not to lose to him again, Nathan let it all hang out and after a very close and exciting drift battle Nathan was declared the winner of that round and moved on to the final four. Nathan found himself paired up against Stewart Leask and after another good battle Nathan was moving on to the final round.

The final round consisted of the number two qualifier and home town hero, Drift Alliances Ryan Tureck in his Pontiac Solstice drift car, versus Nathan Brasz and his Brasz Racing/Cooper Tires Nissan S-13. After each driver took their leading lap in a very smoky, intense drift battle the judges were unable to declare a winner and “one more time” was called. Both drivers gave it their all yet again and after the smoke cleared the judges said this was the hardest call they had to make all weekend. After much deliberating by the judges, Ryan Tureck was announced the winner and Nathan Brasz took second place.

"My Brasz Racing prepared Cooper Tires drift car performed flawlessly all weekend and we are very excited to be back on the podium at a Nopi event. We hope to carry this momentum to another podium finish at the next event in Pennsylvania on June 1st" Brasz said after the event.
